Wizard of Oz- General Information

Show DatesJuly 9th- 19th. There will be one Saturday matinee for a total of 8 shows.   (July 9th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 17th- Matinee, 17th-Eve, & 19th.)

First Cast Meeting/Choral Rehearsal/Read ThroughSaturday, May 15th from 9:00am – 11:00am, at Mountainville Academy.

PARENTS must attend. You will receive important information, scripts, rehearsal and work-day schedules, and costume information. Leads will need to stay for a full read through afterward, from 11:00am-1:00pm. Leads should also be prepared for a head shot photo. (Snacks will be provided for the read-through.)

Choral Rehearsals – Rehearsals will be held for the Entire Cast at Mountainville Academy on the following dates: Thursday May 20th (6:45pm-9:00pm), Saturday May 22nd (9:00am-12:00pm), Tuesday May 25th (6:45pm-9:00pm) & Thursday May 27th (6:45pm-9:00pm). Leads also need to attend rehearsals on Wednesday May 19th & 26th (6:45pm-9:00pm). These rehearsals are very important because you will be learning all the music for the show.   Check the detailed rehearsal schedule for specific details on your role.

Rehearsals– Summer Rehearsals start Tuesday, June 1st, from 5:45pm-10:00pm at Mountainville Academy. Rehearsals will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 5:45pm-10:00pm and Saturday mornings from 8:45am-12:00pm each week with July 4th weekend off. Production Staff Meetings will be held following the Thursday rehearsals for a half hour. Workdays are scheduled Saturday June 5th, June 12th, and June 19th. We will need help from all cast members and parents to help build and paint the set. 

 MANDATORY Rehearsal Dates Evening of June 26th & July 2nd (For Leads only) and Tech and Dress rehearsals for the Entire Cast  on July 6th – July 9th. Scripts will need to be returned on or before July 2nd, for full refund of deposit.

Rehearsal Attendance– You are expected to be at rehearsals ON TIME. You will be allowed to miss rehearsals 4 times throughout the summer, except during mandatory rehearsals and show dates. Please excuse your absence before you miss a rehearsal by contacting the Attendance Secretary.

Costumes– You or your parent will be responsible to see that costumes are ready on the costume deadline days, June 22nd for the Main Cast and June 23rd for Leads. There may be a reasonable cost associated with costumes depending on your role. Costume requirements will be provided by the costume director at the 1st Cast Meeting.

Ice Cream Social– A ticket sales kick off will be the Ice Cream Social, co-sponsored by the Alpine Community Arts Council. This will be held June 19th from 6-8pm at Legacy Park in Alpine. First choice of tickets will be available. There will be entertainment, all-you-can eat ice cream for a dollar and lots of fun. All cast members are asked to attend this fun event with their families and friends. Cast members will perform that evening.

Moving Day - June 26th. We will be moving all our sets, props, costumes etc. to Timberline Middle School to prepare for our final Tech and Dress Rehearsals. We Need Everyone’s Help! Every cast member must have someone attend to help us with this. (Yourself, a parent, brother, uncle, etc.) We will rehearse from 8:45am- 12:00Noon at Mountainville Academy and then disassemble and move everything over to Timberline. Once there we will re-assemble & organize everything in preparation for Tech & Dress Rehearsals. Lighting and Sound Crews need to be there also to set up and run the evening rehearsal.   Leads will rehearse that evening from 7:00-10:00pm.

Set Strike – July 19th. We will strike the set on the 19th after our last performance. Every cast member must have someone attend to help us with this. (Yourself, a parent, brother, uncle, etc.) We have to have the facility cleared out for final inspection. Everyone’s help is needed and appreciated!

Cast Party – This celebration will be held on July 22nd for all cast and staff members to celebrate our great achievements. More info will come from the Cast Party Committee as the time nears.

Parade– All Wizard of Oz participants, both cast and crew, are invited to be part of our entry in the Alpine Days parade. Main leads will be required to attend. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Wizard of Oz t-shirt on the float.
