ACT is presenting “The Wizard of Oz” and AdBag is creating the program book/playbill and helping with fund-raising.

  • For a donation of $25 or more your name will be listed on the “Contributor” page of the program book

  • For a donation of $100 or more, your logo will be displayed on the “Contributor” page
  • Ad space may also be available if you act now (1/2 page is $250 and 1/4 page is $125)

The Utah Shakespearean Festival Players will perform a fun, fast-paced Wild West adaptation of “The Taming of the Shrew”. This is Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it and is fun for the whole family. If you’ve always wanted to go to the Utah Shakespeare Festival but never had the opportunity, here’s your chance to see what you’ve been missing. The Lone Peak High School Shakespeare Team will also be on hand to present their award winning competition performances. 

This event will be held at Timberline Middle School at 7:30pm. All proceeds will go to help fund ACT’s 2010 summer production of “The Wizard of Oz” which plays July 9th-19th. Auditions for “Oz” will be May 8th at Timberline Middle School. For more information or to purchase tickets for the Shakespeare Gala, please contact Laura Snyder- 763-1225, Chris Culver- 367-0962, or go to AlpineCommunityTheater.org.

Show Dates– July 9th- 19th. There will be one Saturday matinee for a total of 8 shows.   (July 9th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 17th- Matinee, 17th-Eve, & 19th.)

 

Cast Party – This celebration will be held on July 28th for all cast and staff members to celebrate our great achievements. More info will come from the Cast Party Committee as the time nears.

Parade– All Wizard of Oz participants, both cast and crew, are invited to be part of our entry in the Alpine Days parade. Main leads will be required to attend. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Wizard of Oz t-shirt on the float.

“Players Anonymous is giving special recognition for excellence in community musical theater this summer to Alpine community theater for a thrilling production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Sell-out audiences gave standing ovations for all eight performances. By double casting, Laura Snyder, the executive director, was able to include over two hundred performers… an amazing feat using families with young children as well as seasoned actors. The whole show revolved around the talents of Scott and Sue Carey who accompanied and directed a full orchestra of local talent. The play showcased award-winning actors such as Matt Dobson who played Gaston and a local 6′5″ 275 lb Beast with a deep resonating voice, named Wendel Smith. Erica Glenn and Emilee Copier took turns as Belle and are as beautiful as they are talented singers and actresses. Every role was perfectly cast and the costumes were professionally presented by Kristen Arnold. The props and scenery were exquisite. This is an award-winning stage play and hold it up for all to see as an example of what a community working together can do.”

Audition times:
9:00-12:00           Boys & Girls (8-12)
12:30-2:30            Adults (19 and up)
1:30-4:30             Teens (13-18)
(Please contact Laura Snyder in advance at 763-1225 if you need to come at a time other than outlined above.)
 
WHAT TO EXPECT:

SINGING-Please be prepared to sing 16 measures of an upbeat Broadway Musical. 
(Nothing from Wicked, PLEASE!)  Bring your sheet music.  No CD players or other electronic devices, please. Accompanists will be provided. 

DANCING-Also, be prepared to learn dance steps by wearing appropriate footwear. 
(No flip-flops or sandals.)  You will be asked to present dance steps taught during auditions.

ACTING- Some of you may be asked to read lines and do some improvisation. 
(Presenting a 1 minute monologue is optional for callbacks only.)

SPECIAL SKILLS- We also need special skills such as Indian Hoop Dancers, Fiddle Players, Drummer, Guitar Player, Washboard Player, Jug or Bottle Players, and a Harmonica Player. Please let us know if you have any of these skills at auditions or by contacting Laura Snyder at 763-1225. Interested Musicians and Indian Dancers will be asked to come back at a special time during call-backs to play and dance for us.   We are excited to see these special talents!
